Lirac and Côtes-du-Rhône villages Laudun appellations. Domaine Duseigneur
was created in 1967 in Saint Laurent des Arbres by Jean Duseigneur, from a
family of four generations of wine growers. He has planted the domaine with
Grenache, Syrah and Mourvédre and is completely devoted to his vineyards. He
learnt the importance of thinking of the future and respecting the land
from his forefathers. His priority is to maintain the integrity of the soils
and their geological and organic balance.
In 2004 Bernard Duseigneur made the decision to implement a Biodynamic
approach to winemaking at the domaine. It was in the same year that Nadine
Padovani Faure-Brac and Philippe Faure-Brac, in search of a high-quality
vineyard, joined Bernard Duseigneur at the domaine. Together they have
embarked upon this exciting new chapter in Châteauneuf du Pape. No weed
control products, fertilisers or other chemical substances have ever been
used at the Domaine. Furthermore, a thick cordon of forest isolates each of
the parcels and protects them outside contamination.
“We also take care to limit compaction of the clay soils caused by
agricultural machinery. We carry out raking by hand using tools that are
specially created for us by a blacksmith. We believe that the quality of our
soils allows the vine to reach its full potential.” Bernard Duseigneur.
