This 30ha estate has been run by the extended Croisille family for nearly 40 years and has been organically certified since 2013. The size of the range comes from the decision to select plots with specific terroirs, and vinify them separately, allowing each one to express the diversity of the different soils and limestone in the region. This way they can strive to reach the purity level of other great wines in France.
The grape of Cahors is Malbec, and each of the Croisille's bottlings is 100% Malbec. Malbec has small berries with a very high skin to juice ratio, so unless the wine is carefully made, they can be rather tannic in their youth, only mellowing out to be round and warmly rich with 3-10 years in bottle. The Croisille family make a range of wines to suit everybody, from the quaffing Croizillon to the cellar-worthy Calcaire.
