Sherry is an undervalued and mostly forgotten wine. The vast majority of people aren’t that interested in it because their experience is limited to being force fed some tired old rubbish out of a decanter by their grandmother. No one told her that everyday (cheap) Sherry wouldn’t keep, let alone improve. The Equipo Navazos wines are light years away from Granny’s daily tipple.
The Equipo Navazos project is one of the most intriguing, dynamic and compelling projects in the world of wine today. They seek out the best of the best – forgotten barrels that have often lain hidden for decades - wines that have kaleidoscopic complexity and amazing intensity while retaining their elegance and textural balance. These are the 'DRC's of sherry and they were recently described by a Master of Wine as ‘Montrachet for a fraction of the price’.
Sadly, production of these enthralling wines is very limited and we are lucky to see the 25 or so cases (total) that make it to New Zealand. They are also mainly one-offs, so our apologies if you see one that you fancy only to find that it had sold out the day before. We will do our best to update the site as the different wines come and go.
